Solution for hiss on audio captured with pctv on c-media internal
sound card
I experience the following problem:
When I capture tv, and then play back, there is hiss and static in the
captured tv.
My configuration:
Asus a7v266-e motherboard (with c-media 8738 onboard audio)
Pinnacle PCTV tv-card
The lack of a filter is the root cause of the problem with the c-media
8738.
I've searched the internet and found some simular problems.
If you have additional info, please send me a mail:

Technical information of the cause of the hiss can be found here.
Finally, I found a solution. Below is a copy of it (original post is here).
Compliments to Hubert!
The problem with the hiss has
nothing to do with drivers or cables. I looked with a spectrum analyzer
at the audio output signal from the PCTV card and found a signal of
128Khz. This signal should not be there and there should have been a
filter on the card to filter it out. Normally there should also be a
filter on the input of the audio card but with the c-media chip they
seem to have forgotten that.
This 128Khz signal gives only
problems when the signal is recorded.
Can we fix it?
I tried Pinnacle support but they
respond.
But yes, we can fix it. If you
are a little bit handy you can make the following:
